It is safe to say that if you know me .....you have heard of the Young Dubliners! Four years later, and that statement still holds true. I have taken more pictures than I can count, and have more signatures and "memorabilia" than any one person should have on any one band. This is not because I am some crazed fan (and no, fan was not writen for me lol), but because I know when I am witness to History In The Making!
When I first stumbled upon The Young Dubliners, I was awestruck. I was amazed by how talented they were. Now, after four years, that statement is now followed by..."and they are just the greatest guys.” Living so close to Hollywood, it is refreshing to see that there are those that can be successful and yet stay down to earth. Living so close to Los Angeles it is not only nice but necessary to be able to be around people that don't live every minute in the fast lane, but know how to just hang around with friends and have a good time. That is exactly the feeling you get at a Young Dubliners show. Lets have a good time with some friends!
Over the last few years there have been some changes to the band. Randy Woldford was replaces by Bob Boulding. Dave Ingram replaced Jon Mattox, and Mark Epting was replaced by Chas Waltz who once was replaced by Mark Epting (hope I didn't lose you there), and Jeff, who can't be replaced, left last year.
All this up heaving might have spelled destruction for many bands, but not so for The Dubs. One can't help but think that this must have something to do with Keith Roberts. Keith is the Lead Singer and front man for The Young Dubliners. It is apparent that Keith not only has a passion for music, but for bringing people together with music and humor. I think that anyone that sees The Dubs live and is not drawn in by them has no pulse. No matter what your musical preferences are, it would be hard to believe that anyone could attend a Young Dubliners show and not enjoy themselves. Keith himself would be the first to admit that it is a group effort. That everyone in the group gives their all. This too is apparent. Every member of the band spends time meeting the fans.
This site is just my little part to help promote The Young Dubliners. It is a place for those fans that are not fortunate enough to live in Southern California to keep up with what is going on with the band. Please drop by my Dub's Board, where you can read about shows that you may or may not have been able to attend, and write your own review of a recent show.
There is a forum especially for recalling your first Dub's experience.
